A designer’s path

Designers occupy a crucial role in today’s society: crafting solutions to complex problems drives us forward as people. That’s what Elon Musk and Steve Jobs have been doing, and their impact is massive. However, both of them aren’t classical schooled designers.

In this talk, Seppe will go over his own story towards the Product Designer he is today, what it means, and why you – yes, you as a business analyst – could have a designer brain waiting to spread its wings. The session will be fast-paced, funny and brutally honest.

Humans not users, people not patients

Business analysts are often celebrated for their analytical skills. Improving processes, implementing new software, and so on. However, I argue that analysts should be more like designers. Analysts should be more involved in crafting solutions instead of streamlining processes. Talking with people who are experiencing the problem at hand, iterating possible solutions and not being shy to go back to the drawing board: those are key skills for a business analyst 2.0. At Neuroventis, we deliver digital solutions for people, not for patients. We treat our user base as a human base. This is my story of thinking like a designer, demonstrating the impact HCD can have and how the are the transformers of healthcare.

An honest session and a lot of slides.

do you want a talk from Seppe? no problemo.

We are all designers

Analysts should be more involved in crafting solutions instead of streamlining processes. Talking with people who are experiencing the problem at hand, iterating possible solutions and not being shy to go back to the drawing board: those are key skills for a business analyst 2.0.  At the center of our team at KBC, we think as designers to handle problems. This is my story of thinking like a designer, doing design thinking and how to infect a large organisation with this mindset.

  • Let’s look at what design thinking is and what it can do,
  • How design thinking acts a virus, infecting everyone involved,
  • And, most importantly – how you can initiate this approach in a massive organisation.
